I'm sorry I can't be around much this week. It's a combo of two good things--work going well plus out of town friends visiting in town.

Hi, to all.

Anonymous said...

Glad you're having a good week, Nancy! We'll just keep doing what we do, until you get back. :-)

Off to the airport at dark thirty - crossing my fingers that this time I actually make it onto a plane!

Happy Hump Day, all! And a good rest of the week.

Glad to hear your absence is caused by good things. We'll just have to let our hearts grow fonder. :)

Good luck, Beth! And hope you have a great time.

Jim, I really liked the poem you put in yesterday's post.

Morning all.

Jim--Big round of applause to student poets. They are learning, learning, learning.

Nancy--yeah work, yeah friends.

Beth--Here's to happy flying. Sounds like a great destination.

Maria, thanks for befriending me And Farf. Not sure this Twitter thing will be something I'll get into. My friend I'm looking to hook up with hasn't contacted me. Grrr. All this technology and yet.

Wonderful Weds to All. Supposed to be almost 89 here today so I'll blow some warm air to you in colder climes.

Mime time… sounds like everything is in its place around the cafe here.

The manor is a little quieter than usual. DoubleRed has worked her glucose back into normal figures, and there was much rejoicing. I stitched up a photo of the Sunday concert and put a much-reduced and -compressed version up on the blog last night (the original is 93MB, and nearly 3 feet wide at 240dpi). Sasquatch lost a keychain drive a few weeks ago, which I found under the recliner last night.

Happy trips and writing to all… maybe I'll be able to get back to this writing thing soon too!

Heyo, off to pick up the first of what looks like maybe a half dozen surplused lab tables from school--we may use them for new counters as they're essentially butcher-block.

Hola, kids. @ home this afternoon thanks to an Excel training class that ended WAY early. Even though it was ridiculously far away (1.5 hrs in rush hour), because only 4 people there, we got through early.

Utterly useless class for me, because I rarely use Excel. (long mime story that I shall not bother to go into).

In any case, instead of going to mimes, I decided to come home and pretend I'm still in class. ::g::

::waves at everyone::

Nancy, I shall see you next week!!!

This made me think of Kelly. A Twitter-like site where people simply post updates on what tea they are drinking. Some Samples. I found it through the blog from my local tea room.

Kelly McCullough said...

MaryB, that's pretty cool. I'm going to resist the temptation, but cool nonetheless.

That's a cool photo!

Have a good time, Nancy!

Have a great trip, Beth!

It finally stopped raining here after a stormy night. Thunder and lightning, yet the b2 boy slept through it.

The car inspection went well!

AndiF said...

Heh, looks like Nancy fell into her novel and can't get out. At least I hope so. :)

Morning all.

Good Morning!! I just made a fresh pot of coffee and I'm ready to share!

Morning, all! Made it to Oregon safely - great to be back on the Left Coast. Except for waking up at 4:45... apparently my body hasn't figured out we're not on EDT.

Glad the car inspection went well, boran!! And yay for getting home early, Maria.

No concrete plans this week - drive through towns, walk on beaches, find coffee shops - and try to stay warm. Brrr! I've become a Florida wuss.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday (it IS Thursday, right?), and I'll check in as I can.

::grins and waves at everyone::

See how our hostess is, she's ditched us for her meatspace friends! ;) Nancy, I hope you are having a lovely visit with your friends and that work continues to flow smoothly and satisfactorily. And as always, my very best wishes to the whole delightful regular crowd of irregulars here. :)

::waves madly again, dashes off to paint home office purple::

Morning/Now afternoon all.

Andi--Pat the pups for me and give a hug to Jim.

KB--I could really use a cup of that coffee if any's left. Just got out of the squirrel cage(7th grade)my nerves are gangling.

Beth--Glad you made it. Enjoy unstructured exploring.

Jen--purple office?? Now when you say purple are we talking lavender, grape, wisteria??
And I am very excited to a regular irregular!!

katiebird said...

Lisa! Perfect timing. THAT pot is long gone but, the NEW pot is just finishing up now!!

And we've got plenty of clean cups!

Maria Lima said...

::saunters up to coffee pot and pours a huge mug::

Mmmm, heaven.

Today, I mailed back the signed contract for book 4 to my agent.

BLOOD HEAT (working title) has begun.

(still @ the mimes, but needed a brain break)

Jen said...

are we talking lavender, grape, wisteria??It is called African Violet, which sounds much less ridiculous than half the other shade names I sampled. It is a deep, vibrant purple with a touch of merlot in it. Glad you lived to tell the tale of another day in the squirrel cage -- they can be rabid, you know. ;)

Big congrats on #4, Maria! ::toasts you with the good stuff::

bono said...

Well, crazy times @ chez bono. Too much going on and not enough time to deal with it all. Upcoming graduations and serious illnesses in the family. Oh yeah, and this little thing called work. sigh

Andif, I loved the rapids pix even without the mini canoe/kayak/raft. :-) And thanks, Farf, for sharing your joy via pic of daughter dearest at concert. How exciting for her! And you!

Beth, I think you travel more than anyone I've ever known. Glad you had a safe arrival and hope you make lots of good memories while you're there.

I loved Jimf's poem from his student's journal. Thanks for the reminder that this is still poetry month.

Jen, African violet/merlot is really purple. Hope it turns out as well as you envision.

Hey, Nancy, glad to hear the creative juices are flowing again. Hope you have great fun with your out of town friends.

Is it Friday yet? Have a good one, y'all.

katiebird said...

I'm watching the clock so you don't have to. Time?

2:39 a.m. CDT

. . . and counting.

Jen said...

Bono, thanks, and I'm sorry to hear about the illness in your family. Healing wishes to you & yours, congrats to the new grad(s), and try not to let the mimes get ya down. :)

AndiF said...

Wow, that's some deep writing-and-friend well Nancy has fallen into. Hello, hello ... can you hear us down there? Morning Jen!

Morning to all yet to come.

Jen said...

Mornin' Andi.

::pitches change down the well and makes a wish::

AndiF said...

So, Jen, was your with that Wes would decide to roll in the paint, put the second coat on the walls without getting any on Lucy, and then figure out how to clean himself up? :)

Jen said...

I can't tell you or it won't come true!

AndiF said...

Heh Jen, glad you could figure out that "with" was "wish" with a finger-lisp. :)

And some of you might not want to click on the links but I couldn't resist showing how the warm 2eather has brought out the cold-blooded but not-warmly-greeting-us "friends".

I saw a sign at the Aquarium yesterday, next to a stream. It said "Change not needed to operate stream." :-)

Glad you had fun, NP!!! Friends are good.

Purple is my favorite color, Jen. Any chance of a picture when you're done?

Hugs, bono. Sorry about the bad times. Hopefully my traveling is slowing down, but I'm glad I'm out and about this week - having a stellar trip!

Eesh, andi, pretty - from a distance.

Glad you're back, Nancy. But now I'm off - to Astoria today, the tippy-top corner of the state. Hope it's a great Friday for all!

Larry Kollar said...

Yippee, Friday! Or it will officially be Friday in an hour or so, when I escape the mimes. Daughter Dearest just texted me to tell me she got an A- on the paper I edited for her… I got teh mad editin' skilzz!

Speaking of which… for you published folks, do you cringe when you see typos in the books on the shelf, do you curse the editors who should have caught them, what?

Kelly McCullough said...

FarF, I don't read the book once it's on the shelf if it can possibly be avoided. Once it's gone through copyedits and is into production, I'm done.

bono said...

Ewww, Andif, snakes not be me favorite. :-p

Thanks for the warm fuzzies. It's just like the saying goes, "stress happens."

2:39, KB? Hope you were able to sleep in. With all the insomniacs around here, this place could be populated around the clock!

I think Jen's wish had something to do with Starbuck helping with the painting. Or was that my wish. lol

Beth, please say "hello" to Janet for us while you're out there.

Welcome back, Nancy. I didn't donate any quarters, just my 2 cents. ;-)

Missing Lisa's contribution today.

Have a great weekend all.

Jen said...

Heh, Bono, excellent wish.

Beth, I shot some photos but I am like a monkey with the camera and I cannot capture the color. Plus, even though I am slightly more skilled than a monkey with a paintbrush, the paint looks blotchy and melty in the photos, I don't know why (thankfully it looks solid and smooth on the walls). But if you are really curious, the color is African Violet at Sherwin Williams and it is in their online color visualizer application. :) Hope you had a great time in Astoria!

AndiF said...

Well I thought for sure I'd see my hognose on the front page today. ::pouts::

Hope Oregon keeps treating you well, Beth.

Hope you have have a stress-free weekend, bono.

Hope you get over your qualms and take us a picture, Jen.

Hope everybody is having (or will be having) a fine morning.

Lisa M said...

Andi--Can't say I'm not sorry to wake up to your hognose.
As much as I can rationalize snakes, they just scare the crap outta me. So more moving water is fine.

Hubby gone again this weekend and glad to be alone. Need to ponder a bit. Independent Editor didn't work out. Frustrated and now needing to get back to editing on my own.

Sensational Saturday to All.

Paul Lamb said...

Did you see the piece in the NY Times today pretty much putting Strunk and White out to pasture? Praise be!

Morning, all! Sun is still snoozing, so why aren't I?

I checked out the color, Jen - it looks great! Will still hold out for the pic, but I'm glad you're happy with it.

I haven't tried to contact Janet, bono, because last I heard she was swamped with family stuff. Hopefully I'll see her the next time I'm out here.

Sorry about the editor, Lisa - that must be so disappointing. Good luck pondering - don't forget to reach out when you need to.

Oregon continues to treat me very well - haven't had this much fun in a long time. South to Yachats today, for a poetry/prose reading at a local coffee shop. And I'm staying in the lighthouse of a hotel!

Sending big hugs to all on this still-dark Saturday.

Maria Lima said...

Morning, all - I've been sort of productive today. Up really early (before 6) and got a little over 1000 words of background jotted down on book 4.

Spending the rest of the day relaxing and reading.

Lisa - sorry about the editor. :(

Re: Snakes - I like 'em - in fact, in the "who are you in Harry Potter" quiz, I'm always Snape - a Slytherin. ::g::

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!
